Lighting Up Your Parol!
The simple addition of remote LED lighting to the parol makes it extra special and magical for children, who can then easily and safely light up their star all by themselves.
Turning on the light serves as a fun reminder to both children and adults that we all have a special light inside us to share for all to see!
Here are the two ways I light up my parols successfully and safely:
Plug-In Hanging Light Kit combined with an Indoor Remote Control Outlet.
Battery-operated remote LED lighting attached to foam board.
Option # 1: I purchased the SIXDEFLY Plug-in Hanging Light Kit and DEWENWILS Indoor Remote Control Outlet on Amazon. I twisted a pipe cleaner around the cord and then twisted it around the tip of one of the points of the star at the top of the parol, immediately after the wooden frame is completed. Make sure to adjust the placement of the light bulb so it hangs directly behind the center of the star. Also, using a 40-watt soft light LED light bulb or one with a lower wattage is highly recommended, as this prevents the light bulb from overheating and posing a fire hazard.
Option # 2: I purchased the BYTECH LED remote light from Dollar Tree. You will also need five triple-A batteries. Before connecting the two wooden stars of the parol with rubber bands, I used one star to trace the center pentagon onto a piece of foam board, which can also be purchased at Dollar Tree. I cut out the pentagon with an exacto knife and attached it to the center frame of one of the stars using a glue gun. I then used the velcro strips that came with the remote light to attach the light to the board. Once this is done, you can proceed with assembling the parol according to the directions found in the book.
